My portfolio showcases various projects that I worked on this summer at AET. If you are interested in any of these projects, feel free to reach out to me via my contact page for more information.
Windfarm – Lakota, IA
This was by far the biggest project I had all of summer 2019. I was there daily for around two months conducting tests. This project required mainly density and concrete tests. I did also have to bring a lot of proctors back to the lab to get pounded as well. This is because the soil in the area was very heterogenous so it was hard to get the density tests to meet the specifications.
CHS Incorporated – Fairmont, MN

Expensive machinery conducting Auger Cast Piling

Late night concrete pour
Auger cast piling is a process by drilling deep into the ground (60 feet for this case), and when the auger is pulling out it injects grout into the ground, making a pile. I would then cast grout cubes that would be later tested. I also had the typical density and concrete tests at this site. The late night concrete pour was due to the facility shutting down and wanting a quick turnaround.
High School Renovations – Montgomery, MN
This project consisted of a ton of density and concrete tests. Before I had the job in Iowa, I was doing a lot of testing at this facility while it was under construction. Due to it being a school, there was some early morning concrete pours at this place before the kids got to school.
Aquatic Center – Belle Plaine, MN

Stoop of the shower building

This was a sweet project to be able to work on. The deadline was right around the 4th of July so it was a very fast-moving project. A lot of rebar inspection and concrete testing were required.
Utility Construction – Winnebago, MN
In class I’ve studied trenches and how dangerous they can be. This site was a cool connection for me to be able to see a trench box with an escape latter if needed. My job here was to shoot density tests as they were backfilling and compacting the entrance to the trench.
